  • TV Celebs Gather to Pay Last Respects to Shefali Jariwala

Shefali Jariwala has been laid to rest at Mumbai’s Oshiwara Crematorium. Her father, brother, and husband performed her last rites as per Hindu traditions.

For the unversed, this is the same place where Sidharth Shukla’s final rites took place back in 2021. Shefali and Sidharth were seen together in the thirteenth season of the reality show Bigg Boss.Shefali and Hindustani Bhau had formed a close bond during their time in the Bigg Boss house. In fact, she even used to tie rakhi to him.

Earlier, when Hindustani Bhau visited the RN Cooper Municipal General Hospital where Shefali was taken post her demise, he addressed the media saying, “She was like my family. More than a sister, she was my child”.A lot of members from the fraternity were present at the funeral to pay their last respects.

Shefali passed away on the night of June 27 after suffering a cardiac arrest. Official confirmation to be out with postmortem reports.

When her husband took her to the hospital, she was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Affairs, Yogesh Kadam assured a thorough investigation into the sudden death of the 42-year-old actress.

Speaking to IANS, he shared, “The police have gathered information, and the investigation is ongoing. If there is any foul play or if any complaint is received, we will definitely examine that angle and conduct a thorough inquiry. We cannot speculate at this stage, but if there is any doubt, action will be taken.”

Additionally, police have also recorded the statements of eight people in the matter including statements of the family members, servants and the doctor at Bellevue Hospital.

While the initial reports suggest that Shefali might have suffered a heart attack, the official cause of death is yet to be shared by the doctors who performed the postmortem.

  • By 2047, India Could Be Developed or Upper-Middle Income, Visualizes Top Economist

Economist Martin Wolf said even with maintaining the current growth rate – which would involve pushing skilling of young workers, expanding education and increasing participation of women in the work force — it is an achievable goalThe goal of making India a developed country by 2047, is “plausible” if the economy stays to the current growth rate of 6 per cent, economist Martin Wolf told NDTV in an exclusive interview today. If the growth rate goes slightly higher, the climb might be easier, he said. “I have always felt India could grow at 8 per cent a year. And if that happened, you would definitely become developed”.

But even with maintaining the current growth rate – which would involve pushing skilling of young workers, expanding education and increasing participation of women in the work force — it is an achievable goal, said the chief economics commentator for Financial Times, London, who received the Commander of the British Empire award in 2000 “for services to financial journalism”.

The definition of a “developed country”, he said, varies. “In my definitions, that wouldn’t really make India a developed nation. But that’s a matter of division,” he added.

But it would still be “an upper-middle-income country… a considerably bigger economy and more sophisticated than today. So does it matter, it wouldn’t be precisely a developed country as I define it?” he added.

  • Tanker Crews Near Hormuz Use Fake AIS Messages Amid Security Fears

Vessels near the Strait of Hormuz have been broadcasting unusual messages concerning nationality in a bid to avoid being attacked as doubts linger over the ceasefire between Israel and Iran.

Vessels near the Strait of Hormuz have been broadcasting unusual messages concerning nationality in a bid to avoid being attacked as doubts linger over the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, according to maritime risk analytics firm Windward and ship tracking data on Thursday.

The signals have been used since conflict broke out between Israel and Iran early this month, which led the U.S. to strike Iranian nuclear sites.

U.S. President Donald Trump brokered a ceasefire after 12 days of war but the maritime threat remains elevated, the Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) said.

“The perception among shipowners is that due to the convoluted nature of shipping it’s hard to know or ascertain clearly a chain of ownership to nationalities which may be under higher threat in shipping, namely the UK, U.S. and Israel,” said Ami Daniel, chief executive officer of Windward.

Fifty-five vessels transmitted 101 atypical messages across the Gulf and Red Sea from June 12-24, Windward said, including “China owned” and “Russian crude”, in the hope of preventing attacks because those countries are less likely to be targeted than Western ships.

  • India Acknowledges US Travel Advisory Update; Level Still at 2

The MEA spokesperson, in his response to the query during a weekly media briefing here, said, travel advisories are “periodically issued” by countries based on their “assessment of various factors”.

“We have noted that the United States has also updated the travel advisory for India. This happened, I think, on the 16th of June,” Jaiswal said, adding thereafter New Delhi has been informed by the US authorities that there has been no change in the advisory level for India, which “remains at level 2, same as before”.

“And the US’ travel advisory level for India has been at level 2 for several years,” he added.

The travel advisory for India also says that the US government has limited ability to provide emergency services to its citizens in rural areas, which stretch from eastern Maharashtra and northern Telangana through western West Bengal.

  • SCO Document Dropping Pahalgam, Citing Balochistan, Fails to Win India’s Support

India’s Defence Minister in Qingdao for SCO Defence Forum

Sending a stern message to India’s neighbours, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has refused to sign a joint statement at a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meet because it did not mention the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 innocent lives and did not reflect India’s strong position on terror. While skipping any mention of Pahalgam, the document mentioned Balochistan, tacitly accusing India of creating unrest there. Pahalgam’s exclusion from the document appears to have been done at Pakistan’s behest as its all-weather ally, China, holds the Chair now.

India has consistently trashed Pakistan’s allegations about its involvement in Balochistan and said Islamabad must look within and stop backing terror instead of making wild allegations.

India is not satisfied with the language of the joint document. There was no mention of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, there was mention of the incidents that happened in Pakistan, so India refused to sign the joint declaration, and there is no joint communique either,” a Defence Ministry source said.

Addressing the summit, the Defence Minister called upon SCO members to unite to eliminate terrorism for collective safety and security. He said the biggest challenges faced by the region are related to peace, security and trust deficit, with radicalisation, extremism and terrorism being the root cause of these problems.

“Peace and prosperity cannot co-exist with terrorism and proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction in the hands of non-state actors and terror groups. Dealing with these challenges requires decisive action. It is imperative that those who sponsor, nurture and utilise terrorism for their narrow and selfish ends must bear the consequences. Some countries use cross-border terrorism as an instrument of policy and provide shelter to terrorists. There should be no place for such double standards. SCO should not hesitate to criticise such nations,” Mr Singh, taking in a veiled swipe at Pakistan.

Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, he said India had exercised its right to defend against terrorism and pre-empt as well as deter further cross-border attacks. “During the Pahalgam terror attack, victims were shot after they were profiled on religious identity. The Resistance Front, a proxy of UN-designated terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) claimed responsibility for the attack. The pattern of Pahalgam attack matches with LeT’s previous terror attacks in India. India’s zero tolerance for terrorism was demonstrated through its actions. It includes our right to defend ourselves against terrorism. We have shown that epicentres of terrorism are no longer safe and we will not hesitate to target them,” he said.

  • Lethal, Greater Range: How Boeing’s F-47 Will Lead Next Generation Jets

The Boeing F-47 will be far superior to the Lockheed F-22 and F-35 in combat capability and technology. It will eventually replace the F-22 Raptor.

Boeing will build the US Air Force’s next generation of fighter jets, President Donald Trump announced last Friday, adding, “They will have unprecedented power.”

“Nothing in the world comes even close to” F-47, the sixth generation fighter jet, Trump said.

General David Allvin, the Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, posted on X, “The F-47 designation was chosen in consultation with the Secretary of Defense & carries multiple significant meanings. It honours the legacy of the P-47, whose contributions to air superiority during WW2 remain historic.”

In another post, he wrote, “Also, the number pays tribute to the founding year of our incredible US Air Force, while also recognizing the 47th President’s pivotal support for the development of the world’s FIRST sixth-generation fighter.”

    What to expect of F-47?

    1. The Boeing F-47 will be far superior to the Lockheed F-22 and F-35 in combat capability and technology. It will eventually replace the F-22 Raptor.
    2. The aircraft will come equipped with sensor fusion, long-range strike capabilities, and next-generation stealth to defeat the latest technology rivals in contested areas.
    3. The Boeing F-47 will have “state-of-the-art stealth technologies [making it] virtually unseeable” and will fly alongside multiple autonomous drone wingmen, known as collaborative combat aircraft, reports say.
    4. The F-47 has an unmatched level of manoeuvrability, meaning it can move and change direction in ways no other aircraft has ever before.
    5. It is primarily designed for Beyond Visual Range (BVR) combat, which means that advanced missiles can help fight enemies from long distances. However, with exceptional manoeuvrability, it can also handle close-range dogfights.
    6. The F-47 has a canard configuration, which means it has small wings placed near the cockpit. While canard designs are known for low observability, their usage in F-47 depicts that the aircraft can turn more easily and stay steady in the air, especially at high speeds or in combat situations.
    7. Compared to the fifth-generation fighters, the F-47 will be more available, have a much greater range, more sophisticated stealth, and be more sustainable and supportable. With its ‘made to adapt’ nature, this platform will require less infrastructure and manpower to get going.
    8. The F-47 is an improved variant of the F-22, which is currently the finest air superiority aircraft in the world. It is extremely sophisticated and prepared to dominate the fight in the future.
    9. The aircraft will be the most powerful and advanced fighter jet ever built. The highly lethal jet can take down enemies quickly and is very adaptable, allowing it to handle different combat situations.
    10. It has also adopted some of the design elements from Boeing’s YF-118G Bird of Prey. The two key features are the wing dihedral, where the wings are slightly angled upward to improve stability and the other one is a shovel-like nose, which has a curved, scoop-like shape, making it different from other fighter jets.
  • R Madhavan On The Lack Of Romantic Film Genres In This Generation: “No One Does Romance Like Shah Rukh Khan, But…”

R Madhavan was last seen in Kesari Chapter 2 with Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday. He will next be seen in Aap Jaisa Koi with Fatima Sana Shaikh

R Madhavan On The Lack Of Romantic Film Genres In This Generation: "No One Does Romance Like Shah Rukh Khan, But..."

R Madhavan might not be the go-to choice for a romantic hero in Bollywood, but his film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein with Dia Mirza and Saif Ali Khan has over the year gained a cult status.

The debate about the lack of heartfelt romantic films in Bollywood, in the current generation has been rampant. R Madhavan in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke about how the rise of action and thriller genres has taken over the joy of good old romance.

R Madhavan said, “I don’t recall any rom-com that has worked on OTT platforms either. I know the Korean [dramas] work but I don’t recall seeing any hardcore, Indian, romantic film. Let alone one that is age-appropriate for a 55-year-old.”

Speaking of Shah Rukh Khan’s unmatched quality of acing the romantic genre on screen, R Madhavan said, “Don’t blame the money. Get us a story, no? One that is well-researched. No one does romance like Shah Rukh [Khan] but one needs a heroine of his age as well. That’s getting difficult to find.”

Madhavan shed light on the perspective that the issue is with closing the gap in age disparity between a male and a female co-star, to make these romantic stories a cult favourite again. He highlighted that this age disparity is particularly existing in romantic genres which needs to be attended to.

R Madhavan was last seen in Kesari Chapter 2 with Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday. He will next be seen in Aap Jaisa Koi with Fatima Sana Shaikh, directed by Vivek Soni and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment. The plot revolves around the lead pair, where both actors play professors. Once again the age gap between the two is notable, the film attempts to revive a genre that has been missing for a long time.

  • iPhone Supplier TDK Readies Batteries Geared for Thin AI Gadgets

TDK’s battery technology is helping the world’s biggest smartphone makers slim down their gadgets.

TDK is readying a new generation of batteries to power smartphones through AI tasks at a time that major client Apple Inc. is also preparing to launch a slimmer handset.

The Tokyo-based component maker will begin shipping its third iteration of silicon-anode batteries by the end of June, Chief Executive Officer Noboru Saito said. That’s ahead of TDK’s original schedule for shipments in the September quarter and may give smartphone makers enough time to use these cells in thinner models launching this year, he said.

“We’ve made good progress, and we’re shipping them very soon,” he said in an interview. “Some handset makers might be able to use the new battery in their product one generation early.”

TDK’s battery technology is helping the world’s biggest smartphone makers slim down their gadgets without shortening battery run times. Its latest lithium-ion batteries use silicon for anodes instead of the graphite commonly used, and can pack 15 percent more energy into the same space compared with conventional rechargeable battery packs.

Samsung Electronics Co. this week rolled out the 5.9-millimeter-thin Galaxy S25 Edge, which is 30 percent slimmer than the company’s high-end S25 Ultra, while also promising a camera with new editing features and other AI capabilities.

Apple is also set to debut a slimmer handset — the iPhone 17 Air — ushering in a new industrial design that may lead to thinner models from the Cupertino-based company in the future

Apple and Samsung are TDK’s biggest customers, each contributing about 10 percent of the Japanese company’s overall revenue, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Saito declined to disclose the new battery’s pricing or its customers, but said TDK’s offering the component to all customers who recognize the technology’s value.

Silicon-anode battery technology can be applied to a range of cell sizes for use in a variety of products, from gadgets to electric vehicles. TDK’s battery subsidiary Amperex Technology Ltd. is the leading manufacturer of smaller silicon batteries used in smartphones and holds a “very large share,” according to Saito.

“We plan to introduce fourth-generation silicon batteries some time in the next fiscal year to widen our lead even further,” he said. “Mass-producing silicon batteries requires special knowhow. It’s not like you can do it by just putting the materials together.”

TDK expects global smartphone production to grow one percent to 12 billion units this year, although it’s warned that US trade policies may ultimately erase that growth. Last month, the company presented its annual outlook as a range rather than a single number for the first time, citing uncertainty around US tariffs.

Companies need to be ready to react to developments outside their control and be dynamic and flexible in response to customer requests, Saito said.

For TDK, that means diversifying production locations. Amperex has mainly assembled batteries in China, but it’s setting up a new factory in India that’ll go online by September. Initial production capacity at the Indian facility is not large, but it’s not difficult to produce silicon batteries on graphite battery production lines, Saito said while declining to disclose which batteries TDK plans to make there.

More manufacturers are building manufacturing capabilities outside China, with Apple expanding capacity in India and Nintendo Co. doing so in Vietnam and Cambodia. Saito said that how TDK allocates production between China and India will hinge on customer requests.

  • New Hyundai Venue Spied; Pics Reveal New Design Details

The Next Generation Hyundai Venue will come with major design changes that follow the brand’s new design language.

Hyundai is preparing the new generation of Venue for its launch. If reports are to be trusted, this event might be scheduled in the upcoming festive season. As we are moving closer to the launch of the vehicle, the spy shots of the SUV surfacing on the internet are becoming more frequent. In the latest update, the pictures of the test mule reveal the design of the front fascia as it will appear on the production version of the SUV.

Based on the pictures, the new-gen Hyundai Venue comes with an exterior that is in sync with the brand’s new design language. Specifically, lightning follows a pattern that we have seen on the Creta. Along with the DRLs, the SUV gets vertically-stacked rectangular headlamps with a dual-chamber LED reflector. It gets an inverted L-shaped DRL on the side. Another similar element is the presence of an LED strip covering the width of the vehicle.

The SUV also gets a newly designed grille complemented by the presence of a new design for the bumper. Meanwhile, the silhouette of the SUV is mostly the same as its predecessor. However, there are a few changes in the placement of the body cladding. Furthermore, the ORVM comes with a sharper appearance and a different design for the roof rails.

Similar to the exterior, the interior of the next-gen Hyundai Venue is expected to get an upgrade with a new layout for the dashboard, upholstery, and an extended list of features. The list might include elements like ambient lighting, ventilated seats, ADSA, six-airbags, a bigger infotainment screen, and more. Meanwhile, the powertrain might remain unchanged with similar engine options as the outgoing version.

Once launched, the next-gen Hyundai Venue will hold its fort against models like Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, and others.

  • 2026 Mahindra Bolero First-Ever Spy Shots Surface- Here’s What Changed

The Mahindra Bolero in its next generation will likely get an upgraded feature list aimed at enhancing safety and comfort.

Mahindra & Mahindra has quietly initiated the testing process of a new product. Based on the latest spy shots available on the internet, the camouflage-covered test mule appears to be the next-generation Bolero. Carrying the iconic name into the next generation, the test mule gives us a preview of what the latest vehicle based on the NFA platform will look like. The popularity of the name can be understood by the high sales numbers associated with the name, especially in semi-urban and rural areas of the country.

The test mule spotted by Motowagon reveals that the next-gen Mahindra Bolero will carry forward its boxy design with an upright stance and dead straight lines. This time around, the brand seems to have added more contours to the mix, with muscles bulging out on the side. With a rather flat bonnet, the SUV seems to have circular LED headlamps along with vertical slat grilles forming its new face. While the design of the bumper is not visible, it is anticipated to be a refreshed unit as well.

The rear end of the vehicle continues to be upright with a flat surface and vertically oriented tail lamps. There’s a chance that the tailgate will have a spare wheel mount. Furthermore, the brand seems to have fitted larger alloy wheels on the SUV along with a new design for the ORVMs. To make things even more interesting, instead of the regular door handles, the vehicle has flush-type door handles. This can be an indication that the vehicle might command a more premium appeal compared to the current model.

Another important thing to note is the presence of the F4 sticker at the rear end of the vehicle. This indicates that it is still a prototype and might go through several stages of scrutiny before reaching its final form, i.e., production-ready version.

As per earlier reports, Mahindra will unveil a new platform that might underpin the new generation Bolero. While the technical details are still scarce, chances are it might get a petrol-hybrid and diesel engine.
